Such a great band, Ray White sang on Frank Zappa's City Of Tiny Lights. He's tight and loose at the same time, in fact the whole band was tight and loose.
Ray was a regular member in Zappa's band at one point.
That was really cool.
You guys make it look so easy and fluid.
Having contributed nothing personally to the thread I still feel strangely over-represented in the Cissy Strut musical example department. .
Nevertheless, I just got off the phone with George Porter Jr. about material for some upcoming stuff and suggested strutting.
You’ll never guess what he said.
Ok, you guessed it: he said “Oh yeah! Let’s play it like a blues!!”
So, fair warning. I will post another live Cissy’s Got the Blues in the near future for all y’all to choke on.
Also maybe a shut-in version on something other than normal guitar depending on my very full home recording procrastination schedule.
just a clip of another version that I found and liked. No guitar, though.
Nice, thanks. All I is hear is my open string clam at the top and some riff dropout -did kinda fake cover up that but still...it never ends.
I hear you. All I hear in my take are the two misfrets, and the wah didnt even cover it up. It kills me to not punch in and correct it.
I dont get why so many guys will talk about it, but so few put clips up. Really disappointing. This is a ONE CHORD vamp!!!
Everyone who did give yourself a pat on the back for me.
After so much time goes by, you get the feeling guys are working out solos or doing a million takes. Thats fine, but its not improvisation. Oh well.
We could do something like have one thread p/month, with a different tune each month where we can all post clips.
I hope to be able to record something tonight, if I get enough time after putting the kids to bed. As long as everyone doesn't mind an 80's rock hack on an iPhone video.
I was waiting to get my Fender SuperSonic back from the shop and I got it today. Sounds great, and with my G&L ASAT Special it's awesome.
My funky place doesn't warm in the winter but in the last couple days it's been in the '50s and that's warm. So nothing in the way to record some cissy stuff.
Jump in ..the water's warm.
I dont care if someones a total beginner or its George Benson himself. Put it up there!!
I'm jealous, my fret hand index finger hasn't allowed one note of playing in 4-weeks, or would post a hack version.. c'mon others, post...be grateful you can play.
Well, here goes:
It wouldn't let me embed the link, sorry. I ran through the backing track twice to learn the melody, then recorded this take, it's all you get!
Nice -- really like the side-slipping. And you put some effort into the guitar face, too. Gotta give you props!
Thanks! I have to admit: I just had to Google "side-slipping".
And hey, I like to think my guitar face is better than standing stiff with my mouth gaping open!
So what backing track are you guys using? Wife and kids are out of town. Might drag some gear in the living room and give it a shot.
