Just got turned ono him a few days ago in another thread. He's awesome. I can't stop listening to him. Great songriter, player, and cool guy and his band is great. Formerly with Drive By Truckers as many of you know. Listen to as much of him as you can!! It's all great!

Dude, these are all old songs. Great ones, but not new... have you heard Southeastern yet? Because that album, start to finish, is about the best example of songcraft you'll ever hear. I have been listening to it on repeat since the day it came out almost a year ago, and it still gets better with each spin. It's truly a stunning work of art.

I've become a fan in the last few weeks.

I also like his stuff the best on the DBT releases he was involved in.

I saw Jason once and am now a fan. It was funny, he starts strumming the intro to a song and is talking along with it. He says that he's going to play the best country song ever written and from what he's playing it sounds like he's going to do one of his songs. Instead, he does a 180 and does Townes Van Zandt's Pancho and Lefty. His version is one of my favorites.

Oh yes, I have Southeastern for sure and have been wearing it out too. I just grabbed a few of the best audio Youtube videos of him real quick.

"Live From Alabama" is essential listening. I may be even more jealous of his guitar playing than his other talents.

There's a really good clip somewhere out on the intertubes with him playing slide to Cortez with Mule.

His guitar playing is underrated. So much focus on his songwriting (which is TOTALLY understandable) but his playing is really tasty.

Southeastern deserves the accolades its' receiving. "That cat can spin a yarn" or whatever the saying is...I hang on every word the first, second, third time I hear something he's written.

I started listening to Southeastern over Christmas vacation and probably have listened to it in total 35 times since!! It is amazing and it isn't 'normally' a style i gravitate towards so it is even more refreshing and inspiring!

Is he touring solo or with the band?

With the 400 Unit. I caught one of two sold out shows here in NC a couple weeks ago.

I saw him/them at 9:30 club in DC last week. SICK, sick show. He's so great. His band kicked ass too. I honestly wasn't aware how much he could rip on the guitar.
