What's the going price on a 62 slab Jazzmaster, all original except for an MJT body only refin, refret, 2 tuners, replaced pickup lead wires by Fralin and non original G&G case? Thanks!

IMO, real world going rate for something like that would be $3500-$3700.

Insane considering you can get an all original ‘62 for not much more than that. What’s happened to vintage parts guitar prices?

    Paying $4200 would be insane.

I'd say between 3-3.5k. I recently traded a '62 Danocaster body only refin for a guitar that I later sold for somewhere around that number. An original '62 runs about double that or more these days...

This is all great info. I was gung-ho for a pre-CBS JM a couple of months ago, but luckily I kept having them bought out from under me, pulled off the market or unwilling to deal. Luckily, that allowed me to calm down a bit and be more reasonable before I overpaid. I just haven't seen anything priced like you guys are saying it should be in the past few months. There's also a 61 in the Emporium that is a body only refin, with replaced pickups, a Mastery and a really ragged OHSC and I couldn't get the guy below $3200. I'd probably still be open to buying one for decent money if it was a good deal, even though I'm hot for a Bicentennial Firebird at the moment.

I concur with the low $3k’s.

Not bad considering what custom shop stuff is listed at.

I just bought an all original white '62 in AUS (Oct, so non slab but also not an L series), our dollar has really dropped recently but it would be the equivalent of just under $5k USD

    Not sure that helps any.

I can tell you there is a '59 and '61 with body refins (otherwise all original) that they are asking the equivalent of $6500 USD here. High for a refin.

There is also a sunburst original '64 that has been siting for a while at approx $4400 USD

Seems we are both offset mad at the moment, got the Firebird yet?

Thanks for those! I remember seeing them while looking around recently. Looks like both necks have been refinished and have repro decals. I would think body only refins would bring quite a bit more. When I was on the hunt, I was looking for body only refins, as I wanted the broken in neck finish to still be there. Seems it's hard to find a body only refin that's all original otherwise!
