Looking into one of these two for my next build and I'm just getting familiar with the differences between the two (24" scale vs. 25.5" scale, different pickups, etc.).

Can anyone give me some pros and cons for each guitar? Also, is either one going to be easier to source parts for? Seems like both use the same trem system and tailpiece, and I'm probably not going to install the crazy switching/control systems no matter which I go with-- just a regular 3-way switch and master volume/tone setup.

This will be for punk and garage rock.

Jazzmaster has a fatter sound. Sounds more full to me. The jag sounds like a telecaster with more bite.

Both sound great. But I'm a jazzmaster guy.

You have to go and play a 24" scale. Totally awesome IMO. That being said, the JM pickups sound better. There are aftermarket guys doing Jag pickups now that sound a million x better than originals.
