Hey, I've been trading amps and things around for years now. but this time I'm not sure what I want. I have offers for both a JCM800 2205 2x12 combo (I think it's techincally the 4212) and a Nomad 45 1x12 combo. I'm definitely more of a marshall guy but I'm not sure if the Nomad might be the better deal.

    Ideas?

    Suggestions?

I'd guess the 2205/4212 is better deal

That's what I'm thinking also. I'm just not totally sure that's all.

any opinions on these two amps? Anyone?

No brainer for me..i have owned both and the nomad 45 is probably the worst mesa i have ever played...I honestly think it was terrible, but until you try one you won't know. I am not a mesa basher either, i own 2 stilleto deuce heads and they ended my tone search, but i am pretty sure you will be very disappointed with the nomad 45

I'd go with the 2205. I'm a Mesa guy but I never cared for the Nomad.

800 is the sound of rock. I can't think of a better sound for rock in a portable package (well sorta portable). You buy an 800, you will probably keep it forever. I know i will.

The split channel JCM 800 sounds very close to a split channel JCM 900, but thicker with slightly less gain, as well as having less headroom on the clean channel. They definitely sound related though.

those are my main complaints about the 900 actually. I took it the 800 is more "vintage" voiced also.

either way I'd be making probably 200 bucks on the trade

I own both, I'm a Marshall guy, the Nomad is better than it gets credit for-but it can be a pain to dial in, but the 2205 is a great sounding Marshall, one of my favorites!

Keep in mind 2205s and their combos are high gain and clean channel ... if you want the rock and roll medium gain stuff get the 2203/2204 single channel types.
