And using an early version of the talkbox. His mastery of the guitar is awe-inspiring.
He is also playing with a pick on those UPP tunes. Love him now, adored him then.
My computer screen background for the last month or so:
Ok, one more for the road...
Is he still the owner of that guitar?
He didn’t like the PAFs, hence the JB Seymour Duncan pickup was born.
I don't think he didn't like PAFs, as much as there weren't the pedal or preamp options that younger players take for granted nowadays. He also used Plush amps on that tour in 1974 when I saw him in New Orleans at The Warehouse.
I have seen Jeff a few times and he always blows my mind!
At some point between then and now his playing went way ahead of my hearing.
Boy howdy. Thanks for posting this.
I am fairly certain he played the Oxblood LP at JazzFest when I saw him around 8-10 years ago. Just for a couple of tunes. I remember being pretty thrilled to see it, or maybe I am imagining things. It was a while ago.
JB stands for jazz/blues and didn’t come until Waaaaaay after beck switched to strats.
Wow, those are amazing videos. I like him better with a LP, better tone IMO.
There was a period in time when I realized that almost all my favorite players played Strats...but my favorite tones were almost all Les Pauls.
I dig Jeff Beck regardless, but maybe like the LP tones a little bit more?
How about Jeff playing Les Paul on a Les Paul?
I saw that tour too in San Diego he used Univox Amps when I saw him.
Jeff Beck could play a pan-flute with his arse and I'd still listen.
Always likes the look of that guitar!!
