I like the amp it's just that the drive channel is just a little too muddy and fizzy. I was thinking this would be a good affordable speaker to clear some stuff up and give it a slightly better low end. Anyone have any experiences with it? Should I just get an EQ pedal to clean things up? (I have a BM already).

What amp and what current speaker are you talking about?

The MODs in general are good speakers for the price, with a emphasis on the low-mid frequencies, but AFAIK not known for "smooth" overdrive.

It is not so much smooth but well defined and versatile, I am currently using them in our 2x12 cabs and they sound good clean and overdriven.

I have one in an Ampeg 1x12, just a fantastic speaker at any price. Doesn't color the sound too much and lets the amp come through, sounds a touch like a g12H30 to me.
