This vid was posted today on YT. Perhaps the other three Jinjer fans here might be interested.
Lol... cookie monster. I'm going to use that. Terrible. If your going to wear yoga pants make sure they fit.
This would be more my style if I listened to this type music.
Check out post 210.
I explained to Tatiana that back in the late 80's / early 90's there wasn't really a term for those vocal techniques yet. Us , metal fans back then simply referred to that style of vocals as "cookie monster vocals". There wasn't yet the terms "growls" or "fry screams" etc. It's not a put down at all. IMO shouldn't be considered as such.
I haven't ever heard that term, I'm a bit old for much of that music. Listened to quite a bit of Pantera back in the day but that's as close as I ever came. I will never look at CM the same!
Jinjer's new album Macro was released today.
Unfortunately , my pre ordered CD (via Amazon) didn't arrive today.
Their label put a few previously unheard tracks on YT today.
So far I've abstained from listening to any on my laptop. I really want to experience it in it's entirety blasting on my stereo.
I've already heard three tracks. There are two official vids of songs that have been out for a few weeks. The other song "Retrospection" I first heard live at their show last month.
Let's see if I can hold out for the remaining 6 tunes!
I stumbled across the Resurrection Fest set on YT while I was home yesterday trying to get over this crappy cold...holy smokes! I'm not big into djent (though I have been getting into Meshuggah lately), but I really liked what I heard. That's a seriously talented bunch of musicians laying down some killer stuff. Just downloaded the new album a bit ago and I'm listening to it now- damn. Even more impressive! Now I'm pissed I missed them in CLE a few weeks ago!
Welcome to the awesomeness that is Jinjer!
Same thing happened to me last year around Thanksgiving. I found out about Jinjer and learned they just played as an opening act in Austin the month prior. I did a deep dive and went down the Jinjer hole! Then they released their EP Micro in Jan. I bought all their CDs.
I started this thread on that EP's release date BTW.
I knew they would be back. They were back 11 months later as a headliner! Selling out the venue to boot! Amazing band live and they are super nice folks too.
Rest assured , Jinjer will be back in Cleveland next fall. They have really blown up this year. All their shows have sold out.
I'll re-share the cover of the Oct./Nov. Issue of Revolver.
On news stands today!
My copy should arrive in a day or two.
Jinjer's new album Macro is stunningly great!
I've already listened to Macro at home and in my Truck about 10 times in the past three days.
They infused some lyrical and musical parts that tie it to their Jan. '19 released EP Micro. Very cool.
It's lyrically deep!
They have stated that Micro and Macro should be considered as one. CD titles alone should be the tell.
IMO , save for the song Noah , Macro contains Tatiana's most personal lyrics. She roars and beautifully soars vocally.
OMG , the drums , bass and guitar are simply killer. Raw and natural sounding too. In your face and not brick wall mastered. There are tons of dynamics!!!
Check it out!
Mr. French, gotta love your passion for this band.
I cant listen to cookie monster...she can actually sing
you don't have to do the cookie monster to be heavy
alice in chains with acoustic guitars imo were more heavy than most of todays metal bands
Got home to a new Jinjer vid that just dropped 5 hours ago.
This is the song from Macro that speaks to me most.
this band is awesome. thanks to the op for showing me a new band making great music!!!
They are even better live.
Jinjer hails from Ukraine and their albums/EPs are:
Inhale Don't Breathe '12 , Cloud Factory '14 , King of Everything '16 , Micro '19 and just released Macro '19.
I'll say... like a sonic wrecking ball to the chest for 90 minutes.
It's not a matter of need with this band...only want.
I won't get into the lyrical subject. I don't want my thread nuked.
Suffice to say the band have been refugees from their home since '14.
