Anybody use any of the JJ multi section caps?

Anybody have any problems with them?

    Hum?

    Reliability?

I just installed a couple of them and then had
some hum problems in an amp that I'm servicing.

So, I desoldered the leads of the new caps, to splice
in some known good caps in the circuit.
I've got two broken terminals now, one
on each of the new JJ caps.

    WTF!

After one solder and a desolder???

I really like their tubes but I'm having a very
hard time thinking these caps are worth a damn.

I'm thinking I should have held out for the
    German F&T caps.

    I got a 50+50 and a 40+20+20+20 in an amp.

No hum issues or anything...no better or worse then the CDE's I replaced.

I use them in my 79 JMP 2203- sound great to me. You can also change the grounding to make them even more quiet.

I plan on using them to recap my 76 Superlead very soon.

I've used the JJ multis in Marshall repair and in new designs. No issues and spot-on capacitance readings using an old Sprague tester that tests at rated voltage. The 40/20/20/20 is great where space is limited.

Not enough service experience to say anything about long term reliability (longest install is maybe 6 months?).

No prob at all with the 40/20/20/20, used them a few times and have a couple builds coming up for them.

    I wish they made a 40/40/20/20/20 though.

    Thanks Guys,

That is good to know. I was just surprised at
my result and how easily the leads broke.

I would be interested in the Mullard Man's
wiring to quiet down the hum in a Marshall amp.

Dave over at Maven Peal was talking about
    Marshall Hum too.

Guess who has hum now too and on the
    same Marshall 2204.

    It is giving me fits.
