For those of you curious as to the origin of Joe Guitars:

Joe Guitars is a side project from the mind of James Tyler and were created for the Japanese market.

A few of these guitars have leaked out here in the US, but they are an export brand and not the same as the Tyler custom shop although the quality is.

Here is the Joe Rat:

Great looking guitars.... whats the difference in terms of feel or playability to the Tylers...??

Perhaps a little more modern feeling. Definitely does not have that old school flavor of the Tyler '59 backshape.

I would say even C slim/medium and feels like an old Jackson (Sorry Jim) or the Tyler Classic neck.

Impeccable fretwork and setup of course.

I just missed getting one that was posted here a while back.
A flat gray one with a maple board, white guard and black single coils.
Oh, well.

I'd love to play that Joe Rat.

I see he's switching over to hipshot tuners now.

I have the Hipshot coming on my new Tyler. They look real cool and according to Jim are a superior tuner to the Kluson.

Great looking guitar...but "Built in America by Assholes"??? I don't get it...

From the man himself:

"It came about when one day a few years ago when I was pondering the concept of a cheaper no frills, no options guitar for export.

It seemed like everywhere I turned, in the news, on these discussion boards, etc., everyone around the world were talking about how much they disliked or hated Americans, and what a bunch of assholes we and Bush were.

So... I figured I was proud to be an asshole, and I would put it right there on the guitar. It's a joke, it's purely there for my entertainment.

But, like everything else, either you get it or you don't."

'Nuff said.

Matt

Not sure if he's going to use these exact ones, but these Hipshot tuners are very responsive and keep the guitar in tune as good as Sperzels or Klusons.
