5 way selector switch. I am guessing the 3 switch group is for coil splitting each individual pick up. May be the 2 switch group has to do with volume and tone switching due to the guitar having 3 knobs. Great to see another big name artist jumping on the PRS train. Welcome to the family ( I own 4).

Does this mean his sterile Strat tone is now going to be even more sterile?

Well this one could attract many flavors - Anti-Mayer, anti-PRS, #anti-twitter, anti-fender, anti-mini toggle... Lots to be irked with on offer here ;)

I only wish my tone was as sterile as his.

Yeah figured the 3 are coil splitting... it's the other two that had me wondering

I'm not a Mayor fan but good to see him with PRS.

Yes can't say I didn't expect it, can of worms for sure :)

On the other side of the coin maybe we could get some pro-PRS, pro-Mayer, pro-Guitar, pro-I'mOKwithotherpeoplessuccessandguitartone views also. Maybe not

And I wouldn't call myself a Mayer fan but I'd be happy with his skills and success. I am partial to a nice PRS though... although I don't like the cosmetics of toggles... opnions, opinions

I'm no hater. I have no issues with Mayer, or Strats, or PRS. I was just offering the predictable response as a joke, particularly in light of the "why do some people think PRS guitars are lifeless" thread. I guess the winking emoticon wasn't enough of a clue.

I'm wondering if the fact that this is at least the fourth Mayer thread today, the third on his departure from Fender, has anything to do with folks being over him. I swear it sometimes seems like the TGP collective is aware of only 5 guitarists: Hendrix, Clapton, SRV, Mayer, and Joe B.

I've played enough of them to know I think their cool. I wish I could afford a Santana model.
Which this one reminds me of.

Maybe they should have picked a different color.
Oh well, what do I know?

4th? wow, I did look and didn't see any relating to it... Like I said I'm not particularly a fan, but it is newsworthy IMO and I am still interested in what the extra toggles are for. Did any of those 3 threads mention what they do?

PRS is great! I love the boat load of them I have and am glad they are moving forward as a company with new models and adding artists to the family.

People posting negative comments about John Mayer are P-niss-NV positive.

Wow...that's a ton of switches on there. Curious as to how it will sound with the hardtail, etc. etc.

As for all the bitching about him as a person/player. I don't get how anyone can dislike his guitar playing all that much. Maybe not your stylistic cup of tea but he certainly has chops! Not sure we need all the animosity over someone being successful in music.
