Hey there! Saw Steely Dan at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga, Ca. on monday night - great show with a lot of cherry old "off the LP" tracks; The Royal Scam, Everything You Did, 2 Against Nature, Show-Biz Kids, and Gaucho (with Walter singing it like he OWNS it!)...

My dilemma is that I couldn't get a good enough look at Jon Herrington's main axe - seemed to be a quasi LP but too big, I think... his 2nd guitar seemed to be a Ibanez Artist (one of the smaller 335 types).

Anyone else seen them who can shed some light on this?

    thanks in advance!

Google up a pic of a Hamer Monaco (not a Monaco III), as he's been known to play them. That could be the "quasi LP".

I know he uses a 335 fairly often, but if you're sure it was smaller than a 335, it may have been his Hamer Artist Korina... he's also been seen with a Hamer Newport.

He used to play a spruce topped Newport (see below) though I'd agree that anything more recent would be his 336.

I know a year or two ago he was playing some sort of 336 on tour. Not sure now.

That's hysterical - I was going to make a joke about the bent frets, assuming that he'd moved during the shot, and then I realized, no, dammit - THEY ARE BENT!!! I think I'm happy that my ears will never be good enough to hear the value of a fret job like that. But I'm happy that they exist for the people who can.

What is that? Buzz Feiten gone wild?

That guitar looks to be 25.5 scale as well.......

with the exception of the wierd frets...you could make one out of warmoth parts and fralin p/u's no?

Basically another variation of the Fibson....

True Temperament is a Swedish company that offers necks with different fret temperaments for different applications (12 tone, "Thidell",etc). I played a "Die Wohltemperirte Gitarre" neck once, and it was very interesting, but felt a bit weird. I guess I could get used to it easily enough, but thay are not cheap. I believe they use Warmoth as their supplier.
