This is the New York show for the Midnight Special or Kirshner's, as I recall (Ian has a beard, correct? On the DVD set?). Great musician and composer; one of my favorite organists and one my favorite bands of all time. It's not easy to be heavy and swing at the sama time...

"DAWK SAYS:"

''JON'' WAS A BIG TALL GUY LIKE ME...

I REMEMBER THAT HE WAS QUIET...

HE HELD THE BAND TOGETHER WITH HIS PLAYING STYLE...

MOST FANS / PLAYERS DON'T KNOW THAT HIS PERCUSSIVE SOUND CAME FROM A ''RMI''
PIANO WIRED INTO THE TOP KEYBOARD OF HIS ''HAMMOND'' ( C-3 )...

HE WAS JUST ONE OF THOSE GOOD GUY...

Saw him in the Jim Capaldi tribute show 2008 ? on a DVD a few weeks ago. He was great, more straight up blues/ jmmy smith thn he did in Purple but he had not lost a step and was great. Low key off to the side but playing his ass off. Seem to remember he was part of the Harrison circle of friends, so his connections must have been far n wide

I picture Blackmore off in a quiet corner somewhere during that bit, having a nice sit-down with a cup of tea . . .
