Saw Raphael Saadiq's gig last night, and Josh Smith just wailed on guitar.
First time I've heard Josh play. As soon as I walked into the venue, I saw the little glowing lights on the amps and immediately recognized them. He had two heads & 2 full size cabs, side by side, and the tone was phenomenal. I'm guessing they were his "signature" gear? Never heard a Morgan I didn't like.

IIRC, Josh is playing an AC40, and a JS40 (or GOAT), which is his signature amp.

Yeah, there's a video or two of him playing the GOAT on youtube. I think they said it's based on a Super Reverb. Sounds nice!

Josh is a stellar player and RS is a great talent too. Great to hear that he's still playing with RS!

Thanks so much guys! Glad you enjoyed the show last night. We are in chicago tonight. The Morgans are killing me every night. So awesome. One is a Dual 40(AC40) and the other is my GOAT40. Amazing amps.

Was this the Jan30th Detroit show, opening for Lenny?? I'm not a Lenny fan, so i wasn't going to pay for this show, but i am a RS fan, and would loved to have seen Josh live playing with him.

    Awesome looking Morgans!

    cheers

Josh is an amazing player. The combo of him with Morgan amps is a great match.

Josh is also one of the nicest nicest guys out there. I met him through Joe at the LA Amp Show. He added me on facebook after and I asked him if I can pay him for a lesson or two on chicken pickin and he said "I don't really teach because I'm always on the road, but let's just get together and jam when I get back."

Yeah, RS had the monster band with him (Detroit)...horns, vocalists, keys, etc.
Josh had a monster solo too. I just wish they could have played a little longer than 40 mins (or so). But, I get it.

I think he uses Eminence wizards but I'm not sure. Whatever he uses, he's one of my favorite players to listen to.

I met and saw Josh when he was 16 years old in Florida. Sebastian Beach. Also saw him follow Carlos Santana at Sunfest (Lake Worth, FL) back in the late 1990's. Was amazed at his talent. NOBODY should have to follow Carlos, but he did and was awesome.....
