Today I stopped in at Suhr's to pick up my modded JST OD100 SH with the 3+SE Lead channel and I must say it is beyond belief. By far the best amp I have ever played and much better in the lead channel and I thought it was great before. THe clean tones are same as they were(AWESOME) the lead tones are fatter, punchier, fuller across the tonal range and have more gain. With a Suhr strat tonight, I have gotten the most incredible single coil high gain tones with a sweetness and a thickness that has eluded me from every amp I have played. Super responsive and amazingly tweakable, this is the ultimate amp for me.

Thanks to John and staff for creating such great stuff!! I could not be happier.

Oh yes!! I am much more pleased. The amp is now exactly what I have been looking for.

I also tried out Suhrs new noisless single coil system and it is amazing as well.

    Love that guy!

Wow!! You were so right!! MAJOR difference. I love it. My bandmate got his back from John last week and had the SE mod done as well. He could not believe how good it sounded and how major the change was. I could not be happier.

Been playing it at Suhrs with GBS, then at Tone Merchants (thanks Ed) with GBs and a V30 loaded Cornford cab, then later through my Bogner 1X12 with V30 and when I get home it will be an assortment of cabs but probably mostly a Bogner V30 2X12 and Bogner 4X12 with Hs and V30s.

Let's not get too excited for the moment, and give Steve a chance
to live with this amp for a while. In a few weeks we should revisit
Steve and the OD100 and see where he is at with it. My
personal feeling is that this is the amp for Steve and I would
bet big $$$ that several other channel switchers currently in
his possession get tossed to the curb.

The OD100 always had one of the best clean to gritty channels
of any channel switcher. If they have indeed sorted out the drive
channel, this will be a big winner for many players.

I prefer single channel amps with amp and cab swithing systems,
but I live in the studio. For a gigging musician, a channel
switching amp can be an essential tool especially for someone
who prefers amp distortion over pedal distortion.

So... what you are saying, John, is that the SE+ modded OD100 will have a ton of gain in channel 2...?
So, can you still dial the gain down on the front of the amp (ch#2) and then goose the boost trim control for a MEGA gain solo channel?
    Or... am I way off?
I guess I'm asking "how" it would differ from the stock SH OD100?

More gain "available"? ...but you could still back it down to get the stock tone?
    Keith:confused:

Congrats on the amp Steve. Sounds like you got a winner there.

I was just listening to Scott Henderson's "Tore Down House" the other day (Thanks to Fantom1) when I realized that the tone on the title cut is probably one of, if not the best Strat tones I've ever heard! It has all the right blends of all the frequencies, cuts like crazy when he digs in, and mellows out when he lightens up. That's the OD100, right? :)
