I know this has been discussed at length in various threads in the past on this forum and many others but for me to more easily find some info may I ask you cats...

What value bright cap are you running on the bright channels of your JTM-45's or clones?

100pf and 5000pf with a push pull pot. I use the former at lower volume settings and the latter at higher settings. This really is the best of both worlds. MArshall introduced the notorious 5000pf bright can in mid 1967 on their lead amps. Earlier amps used 100pf or 250pf

    Interesting...

I have no real interest in the 5000pf.

I went with a 300pf because it was "pretty close" to 250 but I'm now thinking 100pf might be a "better" choice for me.

I cant really comment on a JTM45 but it would depend on how you run the amp? Clean, edge of breakup, full tilt? I love the 5000p on jmps because I dime the amp and is out of the circuit then. When attenuated I use it to cut bass as it can get a bit boomy at bedroom vol so I dial back to 8 or so.

Whatever George at Metropoulos uses in his GMP45 LTD ED.

I wouldn't change anything about the amp, whatever it is.

I don't use one, but I don't gig so don't need any help "cutting through the mix".

FWIW, Greg Germino does not put a bright cap in any of his amps...if I recall correctly.

As others have stated the cap is out of the circuit when the pot is dimed. I have never like the 5000 a 250 or 100 or none at all is my vote. But it really is important where you play at OP.

I have a metro spec JTM45. It came with a 500, but I removed it and went with none.

I can't understand that on the Bass circuits, but what about a Lead 55 for example?

At least, Germino has been reported to use bright caps (100pf, 250pf etc)
