    I love celestion blues....

    how would a JTM45 style amp work thru a 2x12 w/ blues?

    I know a JTM45 was closer to 30 watts than 45 watts......

and vox amps are usually a VERY CONSERVATIVE 33 watts...

so would it be safe? I know it'd sound badass......

Would probably be OK, if I were you though I'd keep the bass knob turned all the way down.

I run a JTM 45 Bluesbreaker with Kt66 and Blues and to get the overdrive I want and not blow out my ear drums I use a Weber Load Dump. Sounds great. I wish there was a remote bypass on the Load Dump for running clean.

ACtually, after a lil more research.........
a JTM 45 IS a 30 watt amp....so this should be perfect, eh? I mean.....AC30's are 33 watts if I remember correctly.....so this shouldn' tbe a problem, eh?

You can get a great sound using a pair of Weber's alnico Blue Dog 30s. It will be a bit darker than Celestions.

Either that or use an attenuator set to 3-6 dB, which will cut your output to 11-22w.

I am currently using my Germino Classic 45 (w/ KT66's) through a 2x12 cab loaded with Celestion Blues.

There's been (many) times I've had the thing dimed and boosted witha Keeley Java boost. It sounds soooo sweet like that.

The 15 watts is a conservative rating. The blues can handle it. I've been using it like this for a while now and no problems what-so-ever. And this is with my R9 with Darkbursts.

You'll find this the case with whatever speakers you use. JTM 45's have wicked bass and you'll find having the bass at about 2, the mid cranked, the treble about 6 or 7, and the presence to taste (about 12-noon) will give you the best classic rock overdrive you've ever heard!

There you go. The AlNiCo Blue Dogs should be perfect. I've read of guys doing this with JTM45's and loving the results. Cheaper than Celestion Blues, tons of tone, and no worries about popping the speakers. I love AlNiCo Blue Dogs with the right amp.

    you guys rock Thanks!

I'm going to talk to David Smith of Dabeck amps tuesday about my Fat 45 (his take on the JTM45 that I LOOOVVVEEE).

the cab I'm going to get is the new vox 2x12 loaded with blues. Mike's cutting me a GREAT deal at Larry Morgans. And I love the vox cab's look......and I always hear about guying loving thier old vox 2x12 cabs...and I never see/can find them. So...the reissue should be great for me...right?

Hey Colt. What is it that you like about the Fat 45 vs. other 45 watt clones that you've played?
