Did the OP flick the red button on the "is psychology junk science" thread? Why? There was interesting content and I thought it was a fairly civil discussion. Its annoying to put time and effort into something that is lost for silly reasons. Harumph.

I don't like it either. It seems pretty selfish.

I thought that it was a tough room. I deleted my post on that thread because it seemed to generate more heat than light, primarily from folks who cannot seem to process nuance. It happens. That's why god invented ignore lists. But when a post of mine generates too much sideways action, I often feel it's best to just remove it.

The OP deleted it. Last night there was a "What Happened?" thread by another member that wanted to go back and save his content. That member also deleted his thread, after I (unsuccessfully) explained that he could easily view the original thread on Google by selecting the cached version.

Completely agree. That thread had some interesting discussion (along with some squabbling) and now it's ... gone. Some users spent a lot of time to explain their position and the OP basically tossed it in the trash. Absolutely selfish.

Which is exactly what you would say if....

    :aok

    Peace,

It's like the burning of the library at Alexandria only a million times worse.

This is nothing new. By now it should be common knowledge that OPs have the ability to nuke their own threads. Save a backup copy if you don't like your posts going poof.

I'm pretty sure the mods have no intention of changing this feature.

    Deal with it. :sunglasses:

I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of Likes suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.

Junk threads go the way of junk science, I guess. Now, time for a chiropractor thread!

Is this where we sign up for The War on Science? Am I too late? I'll just sit here on the group W bench... making loops for my backing tracks tonight.

When a thread catches fire, it ought not be put out. Makes me wonder if this is one of those "I wish I could delete other people's posts on MY thread... " type of things. Remember that?
