Just an observation........

Completely subjective! I love special color Fenders like everyone else. Seafoam, shorline Gold, Fiesta Red, Placid blue, etc. But they never look right when reliced. Most of the real vintage relics are work horse instruments that were run of the mill Sunbursts and Blonde guitars.

Those are your natural relics. I'm sure there are exceptions .I was looking a few Relics recently that just didn't sit right with me, and I just made the connection.

I think it may come from the fact that you saw fewer of the custom color strats and teles back in the day. Most of the custom color fenders I see at shows are like new. Now the basics, every booth has at least one in Arlington.

Here is a pic of my K-Line T.
I've seen and played several custom colored vintage Fenders.The majority are fairly clean.The custom colors are worth more.Fewer were made.
I have played a few that were played hard and looked it.

Exactly! They look so new, so when I see a Seafoam that has a huge forearm wear it never looks quite right. I think my brain is just wired to see Sunburst and Blonde relics.........Not judging or saying it shouldn't be done, I just never made the connection until recently.

That one kills me every time I see it. Nothing is "right" but it is just sooooooo cool.
It's funny - I LOVE blonde, but Fiesta Red and Seafoam Green relics just totally catch my eye. Must be the rarity?

That one is very trastefully done.

But if they had given it the old forearm sand paper treatment it would have ruined it. Sunburst is the only guitar that looks right on to me.

Thanks guys. Was one of those I had to buy after seeing up on WW's site for a couple of weeks. It kept haunting me. Killer guitar. Todd Krause's fret work is really nice.
