I finally picked up an amp I've been wanting for years, an early 70's Ampeg V2 (original configuration, no master volume or distortion circuit). I just picked up a master volume pedal from fliptops.net, but the amp is in the shop getting a tuneup and I haven't been able to try it. It is a pedal sized volume control that plugs into the External Amp output. I'm hoping to be able to knock it down a few db's so I can turn it up to 6 or so at gig volume. I'm not looking for bedroom volume or anything, just the ability to wind the amp up a bit. I use a Weber 50 watt MASS with my '63 Bassman, but the V2, at 60 watts may require the 100 watt MASS or another type of attenuator.
Has anyone used the outboard master volume with an Ampeg V series amp?
