I have owned a few guitars that "had to be played", perfect right out of the box: Trussart Steelcaster, Cunnetto Blackguard Tele, GVCG '59 Slab Tele, Grosh RC...

My new Rocketfire heavy relic Strat is in the same catagory. (BTW- I like relics, if you don't please kindly move on) The relicing looks good, not over the top, but it is a heavy relic. The back of the neck is realistic, where many fall off. Also, the neck is very comfortable, "plays like buttah". Perfect setup as well.

Excellent workmanship, fit and finish etc. Testimony to a good neck joint is that dry it sounds great, resonant, with sustain for days.

The pickups are custom wound by Nick, AlNiCo 5 magnets. They capture the vibe and mojo of early '60s Strats. Just the right amount of dirt and chime.

If anyone if considering a Rocketfire guitar, I encourage you to contact Nick. Great guy.

Well, I am off to play a bit more. Suffice it to say, I love this guitar. Thanks Nick.

I agree with you about the neck - many relics I have seen have very abrupt wear lines on the neck. Correct me if that's how necks actually wear but it looks unnatural.

One of the nicer relics I've seen.

Thanks Will. And nice amp setups! You've got good taste in gear! Good camera too! The color and vibe of the guitar come through a little better than my original pics. Thanks for posting those and thanks for the follow up on the guitar. Enjoy!!!

i think the relic on the neck looks great, but the body looks to me like it would have to be 200 years old.... IMO... but heck, I dont know the first thing about relic'ing.... as long as it sounds great who cares........ rock on...

Thanks, Nick refers to this as his version of the John Mayer relic.

Looks great!! If that thing had a big neck on it I would have been all over it when Nick had it in the emporium. I think I'll have to inquire.

I know Fender is releasing the "black one" now, but this is the most beautiful strat I have ever seen! I must have one

Looks great. Looks like a Mayer or Rory Gallagher. Rory Gallagher supposedly said that his guitar sounded better and better as more finish wore off. Pickguard looks perfect and Rocketfire pickups are the best. Love the woody look. That thing has to resonate all over the place.

    Docgab:

How does that neck feel? After playing my Rocketfire with a reliced neck, I really can't get myself to play my other strats. Congrats and enjoy. Beautiful guitar.
