I wanted to share it with people who will understand how stoked I am.

None, and I mean none, of my friends will give two hoots.

So, I share here, because you all understand.

Oh man, enjoy! So much technique that never impedes a huge musical mind.

I liked the Baker record, did you not?

He came to KC three times in three years. I sat front row all three. One was his group playing his normal show, one was with Petra Haden singing, and the third was his group playing the soundtrack to the flood film as it played,

    Sublime.

My favorite quote about Bill- "It's like genius flying in a thousand directions at once..."

Every time I've seen Bill perform, he's been great.

I definitely understand why you'd be stoked. I saw him in a small club in MA a few years back; I was surprised by how few people were in attendance, especially given it's proximity to Berklee. Enjoy!

Saw him play on a side stage at Newport back in '08 wonderful experience. He was playing in stereo thru two Fender twins. Glorious.

I LOVED that record. I’ve had encounters with some Jazz snobs.

Saw him late last year play for about two hours with his trio. Talked for maybe 5 minutes total in the whole show. Hell of a lot of amazing music and creative ideas. You're gonna love it.

I saw him during the Guitar in the Space Age tour a few years ago. That was brilliant. Bill and band brought jazz sensibilities and improvisation to popular 60s surf music tunes (and more). It was unbelievable.

I like him best in a band setting, though, like the one I described. Solo or just with a bass player he doesn't quite do it for me. (I think it's because he doesn't play with a strong, driving rhythm, but rather very syncopated and quirky / slightly meandering, so I prefer it when he floats atop a strong rhythm section. Just my preference, of course.)
