Who here is doing this? I'd love to hear some of it.

I've got a bass player and drummer at the moment, but the bass player is an absolute pain to get to actually come jam - always busy.
I've put up ads for other bass players, but uh, nobody wants to play rockabilly lol..

So I was thinking the drummer and I could just two piece it - I think it'd go down a treat, and would be extremely easy to do.

I'd just have to alter my play style slightly to maybe include more root notes on the lower strings, no biggie though.

Anyway, I'd love to hear people doing it!

I already know about The White Stripes.

Before the Black Keys and the White Stripes (mid 80s until their breakup around 2000) there was the original guitar + drums rock'n'roll duo: The Flat Duo Jets.

Cool, cheers mate, I'll look into them. I like The Black Keys but have only got their album that's got Lonely Boy on it, lol.
Will definitely check out their earlier stuff.

Awesome dude, I'll check them out too=!

    Cheers fellas!

Look up Royal Bloods debut, it's just bass and drums but the bassist uses octave pedals to get into guitar range. Most people I know get a white stripes and queens of the Stone Age vibe from them

    House of freaks.

Amazing when I saw them in '88. Sad what happened to them.

Cairo Knife Fight had me going for a while. Don't know if they're still together. From New Zealand I think.

Just my personal opinion, but these bands would sound SO much better with a bass player.

I used to play shows like this. It's not as bad as you might think. If you and your drummer are really tight it can be awesome and clear. Though it is nice to have a micro pog or some kind of bass simulation to break into at certain points, or at the end. I used to end those shows with a good bass n drums groove (by way of the micro pog), then towards the end of the song some fuzz and wah. Fun stuff...

Larry Coryell and Elvin Jones did it on this cut, when Jimmy Garrisson, the bass player didn't show up, because he got stuck in traffic.
I transcribed it and used to play it with drummers when we'd jam without a bass player. I didn't know that LC meant to have a bass player on it until recently, when I read his autobiography.

The early Cramps (Gravest Hits through Smell of Female),
    ***** Galore, and
    The Gories

All played raw rock n roll (akin to the Flat Duo Jets) with no bass guitar.
