    Hi Guys

I have been asking here lately about the XTC 101b, the classic, the Soldano Slo and the custom audio OD100 and have had a tough time deciding on which one to get.........but thru alot of reading and research have pulled the plug on a 101b.

What would you guys have gone for........give a vote of note.

It's hard making a decision like this without being able to try any of the said amps out........but you eventually have to use the info you have from very knowledgeable people.......but it's determining who is knowledgeable and who isn't that is the hardest part....he he

My thinking was the Slo was my first choice at some stage but it seems a bit too pricey and not really tweakable as I would have liked.
The 101b just seems like alot more amp for the money.
The OD 100SE+ seemed like a great bet and seems to have the better clean but my gut says you get more from the 101b gain channels for the money here again.

The Bogner Classic seemed like the best fit for me and my playing style...........
but I couldn't justify the extra moolah and I have the open uncompressed sounds covered pretty well with my budda sd80 which I hear is more Bogner Classic than 101b...........

So I guess the compressed liquidy high gain of the 101b will be a great addition to the family............
I'm hoping so...........I hope you are too:)

What would you guys have chosen outta the 4?
I know it doesn't matter but I'm killing some time....
while I wait for it to arrive.....yeah Bros yeah!!!!!!!

    Cheers
    Rick

Hey man, don't even think of having buyer's remorse. The 101B is an AMAZNIG amp. I'm really sad that I have to sell mine.

I'm in the same boat on trying to decide and have been leaning towards the 101b, let us know how you like it.

I've owned the 101B (still do) and the OD-100 SE+ and have extensive playing time on the other two. I think you made the right choice. :AOK

It's gonna be a while still.
I have to specially order a 220v tranny...so turnaround time is 6 to 8 weeks.

In the mean Time I'll play my Shiva...he he

Good to hear......The bogner seems like the easiest choice to make if you're not gonna be able to play them in person.
I realize that If I actually was able to play all 4 of the amps....I could easily have chosen something else......who knows.....I will never know so....Ignorance will be bliss

    Cheers

SLO's are not very tweakable because you don't have to tweak perfection :)

I would like to check out a 101b though, it does sound like a great amp. Makes me wonder why Mike Soldano hasn't stepped up with a new design in a little while, seems like Bogner is taking over!

    yeah I checked that one.
It seems like most XTC users go out and buy a G major.....
Seems like they where meant for each other.....

I prefer less loop stuff though for live and mostly play dry ...........
but I must say a tasty delay and reverb for studio and home use is a must.

It hard o choose between the SLO and the Bogner. I have the Bogner (101A, not classic) and the SLO and recently had an OD100 SE+ (which I traded for the SLO). For ME, I like the Bogner and the SLO better than the OD100, but it was a kick-ass amp too.

If you are looking for compressed liquid high gain, the 101 is for you. I've never played the Classic, but the SLO is more bright, crunchy and aggresive than the Bogner, definitely nice to have, but better than the XTC? That's up to you.

If I could have only one on your list, I'd go for the 101B without a doubt.

yes I must say the Slo is the one that really intrigued me but scared me at the same time.....It was actually what I was looking at getting in the 1st place.
I think the 101b is the safer option............but man do i like all the recordings I've heard of the slo100.

Any modeller I use I always end up using the soldano slo amp sim.
I'm sure I would be able to pick it out even if I didn't know what it was in the first place.
Seems like a great amp...and a sound that I just love.

I own both a 101b and an SLO. I have to say that the 101b gets the majority of my playing time. I dig all 3 channels on it, so it's kinda hard to beat and just has such a warm, chewy, rich overdrive. It is more tweakable than the SLO, even if they both only had 1 gain channel and no extra switches. I ran both amps in stereo last week when I got my ABY box in and was incredible. Hope you dig the amp! and if you haven't checked it out already bognerampforum.informe.com is where you can go to discuss all things Bogner. There is a sticky on the XTC forum that will tell you how to dial the clean channel to sound like a Fender Super.

You could always get a Soldano X88 and a Bogner Fish and run 'em in stereo through a VHT power amp... :dude
