Yea. I'm glad someone agrees. I skimmed through it after I listened and it's like every 10 second segment sounds like every other 10 second segment. I wonder what Hendrix would say. :) Something tells me that after he said, "Those guys have figured out how to play fast", he wouldn't be very impressed.

Aren't there rules against old men wanking in public?

    Jesus, that was shocking.

Old men? You notice age? Dude! :)

But YES! I didn't want to say it, but shouldn't that be called WankFest?

Sounds like you went to an awful lot of trouble to bash on players who are far more successful than yourself.

Jimi would be turning in his grave if he had to listen to that abomination.

Yngwie actually plays the best over that type of grove, but not in this video- the one or two moments when he actually lays back a bit sounded good, too bad he spent most of his solo blowing his load.

Vai's uniqueness comes out in everything he does, this solo is no exception. It's always a thrill to watch him play, but i don't think he sounded comfortable on this.

I was expecting the most from Satch, and ended up being the most disappointed with his solo.

Couldn't watch the "jam" section- my ears were begging me to turn it off after the 3 solos...
    YMMV

Three great players there, doing what the crowd has paid good money to hear...play their asses off. You don't go to a G3 for its subtlety and harmonic exploration, you go for this kind of thing. Having been to two of these concerts I expect overkill when the three players get on stage together. In this clip I love how Yngwie is totally asserting himself over Joe and Steve, and how Joe and Steve keep smiling when its happening.

Having said that, I do not like this version of Voodoo Chile.

You make perfectly valid points there

In the clip, Vai looks and plays like a man who is a million miles outside his comfort zone and it shows in what he is playing and how 1 dimensional he is sounding, satriani`s playing was just crap and nuthin more to add to that.yngwie was perfectly at home , but did he overplay or what :omg no doubt he tore vai and satch a new ass, but at least they knew it and didnt try to hide the fact.

I can't imagine a less-appropriate tune for those three to cover.

Any suggestions on what Vai, Satriani, and Yngwie should cover next time they got a gig together?

I don't understand the 'shock and horror.' It's exactly what I expected, when I launched the video. It's Yngwie, Vai and Satch at G3, no?
