Kalamazoo Gold vs Amp 11 - any strong opinions?

Thinking about trying out a gain pedal from Lovepedal. Love the clips of both the Kalamazoo Gold and Amp 11, just curious what folks have found in the post-honeymoon, real world use of both. Anyone tried both? Got a fav?

While I haven't tried the Amp 11, I do own the KZoo Gold. From my experience, if you dig chimey tones, you'll love being able to tweak the glass and tone knobs to sculpt a great presence in your tone; tweaking these can produce snappy, neck pickup bliss. I've found the very subtle mid-hump to be soft and sweet, and the bass response is excellent.

I use it as a low gainer and a boost, but its dirtier tones are certainly tasteful as well. It excels with all of my guitars.

Kalamazoo Gold is amazing. I use it for that Black Crowes type rhythm crunch. And it stacks really well.
Not tried the Amp11, but if you go for it try to find the black box version as the boost is independent of the overdrive side, so you can use it on it's own.

My Amp Eleven is my most cherished pedal. It's like an extension of any amp you plug it in to. I couldn't imagine replacing it. I thought the Kalamazoo sounded great, but had a more specific sound. Amp 11 has a better range, much more versatile. If you can find one, buy it!

Ask Mike Hermans from Prymaxe (send him PM he is on this forum)...that's his 2 favorite pedals,but far as I know he's got AMP11 on board & few other OD pedals,but not Kalmazoo...don't know why

I've got both and nothing wil ever swap them off my board. I have had the chrome version for more than 3 years. And the OD11 (od side of the Amp11) for 2 years.
Kalamazoo is the most versatile OD I have ever had (amongst maybe 60 boxes).

But I haven't seen any difference between chrome and gold but the colour and the voltage option.

You can pick one w/ both eyes closed.

Got the Gold in today - stellar pedal. Maybe I should just pick up the Amp 11 and get it over with .

Well, ended up picking up one of the Gold Amp 11's and set my board up with the Amp 11 > Kalamazoo Gold > Suhr Iso Boost and am getting some really great tones.

Seems odd to have two clean boosts, but the boost on the Amp 11 is a very different sound, adding gain to the stack, where the Suhr is a beautiful, absolutely un-colored clean boost and a great buffer.

+1. Feels like the amp too. Also, the boost side is a COT50. It can be bright but I actually like using it as a drive tone if I dial the guitar in to match it. It's supposed to sound like the old Marshall JTM

I am on my second Amp11. I just got the new Gold version with the independent boost. It's really the perfect OD pedal now that the boost can be used on its own. I tried the original Kalamazoo 2+ years ago, but the Amp11 is leaps and bounds better IMHO.

It really is pretty cool - love the way both pedals respond to my guitars volume knob.

So for you guys who have or have had both, what is the main difference between the Kalamazoo and Amp 11, boost aside? I love the Kalamazoo but I may have the chance to pick up an Amp 11 at a good price, and I’ve always wanted to try it.

Actually Kalamazoo and OD 11 (OD side of Amp 11) are both modded Tube Screamers. It's pretty much the same pedal. They will sound slightly different due to minor part variations and changed EQ control. Moreover original TS design looks to me more elegant and consistent than subsequent Lovepedal modifications.
Amp 11 is more versatile than Kalamazoo due to COT50 independent side. I have it and it's a good pedal soundwise. I use COT50 often after many ODs and this combination works just fine. I'd say if you can get Amp 11 at a good price go for it. You might find Kalamazoo redundant. Just be ready to flip it.

Thanks for the insight. I don't need another pedal, but would have considered it if there was a benefit to getting one over the other. I think if they have enough overlap tonally, the layout of the Amp 11 is not worth the boost at this point. I'll just keep my Kalamazoo, as it has always been a solid choice for me.
