Are we supposed to be impressed? All species from his planet can do that!
That's crazy. What's Stanley Jordan doing these days? I haven't seen him on TV or anything for a long time.
He was posting on a jazz thread in Sound Hound Lounge. He's still out there making music.
True, every guitarist can tap on an appropriately set up guitar, but he comes up with some great lines that I'm guessing would not be easily reproduced by just anybody on the planet.
His planet. As in, he's clearly not from this one.
I remember seeing a killer version of All Blues on youtube with him playing piano and guitar simultaneously. Clearly from another planet!
He's been posting here and I just saw him at NAMM's Yamaha guitar night.....he sounded great. I have a clip to upload still.
We have all these low in talent bands making truckloads of money while here is Stanley Jordan.............in relative obscurity.........playing like that!
What do people want in music?
This is playing, people!
Whoa! That was like 3-D chess for guitar! Thanks for posting this.
Stanley is awesome, but that bass player is a hack. I mean playing only one bass at a time, and that drummer too, slacker...
Obscurity? He was on Letterman, and has been nominated for a Grammy four times. I wouldn't call that obscurity.
Walk down the street. Ask the first ten people you meet if they have heard of
a.) Lady Gaga
b.) Katy Perry
c.) Stanley Jordan
Let me know how that comes out.
