A blind eye is nearly always turned when it comes to money Dave, nothing new here.

I don't know who Keith "Oberman" is, but Keith Olberman is right this time. He usually isn't, but in this case I agree with him.

Honestly....being "right" or "wrong" isn't what's at stake here. It's much, much bigger than that in the big picture. But as an individual, I don't need my daughter or niece to become a victim of domestic abuse to know what point Keith is trying to make. I was a Paramedic/FF for nearly 24 years......and I saw this up close, (spousal abuse, child abuse, sexual abuse). It made me sick to my stomach. I finally stopped going to pro football games the past two years because of how unbelievably lax the team I supported was regarding member's abusing women. I guess it took me long enough.....but like they say.....enough is enough.

That said, until more father's of daughters, brother's of sisters, or uncle's of nieces see it, (abuse), first hand.......and I'm talking father's, brother's and uncles that actually care enough to take a stand, it's just more Internet noise being espoused by a guy trying to make headlines IMO. The money will always win out...........

Hopefully the tide is turned in the NFL after last season. SI had a big story about the Milton Bradly tragedy. The fan base ( money) is the only thing that will force action. Don't support teams that tolerate, make excuses for these behaviors. I'm not thrilled with the Cowboys example.

But the fans are providing the money so I guess it's our blind eyes.

I'm going to watch the draft and the fight and continue not watching Olberman.

Olberman doesn't beat women, but he's got plenty of his own problems. He's a blowhard who has to take positions like this to make himself relevant. This is the most accurate portrayal of Olberman of all time:

I dig Keith Olberman - but...

    I'll be watching the fight.

Definitely very comparable things, beating women compared to taking positions you don't agree with. I can't decide which is worse, hmm--I'll guess I'll have to go with the one that inflicts physical harm or even death on a helpless person. But just barely!

Little clue for you - you don't have to choose between one or the other. Carry on.

That's one way of ignoring the issue. Deflecting.

I'll watch the draft. Not proud of it but I'm hoping the NFL and other sports have now realized there is a price to pay and they can lead the way by setting examples moving forward.

No Dave, deflecting the issue is saying that you support domestic violence by watching the NFL draft and watching the Mayweather fight.

Now that we've clarified that, back to your regularly scheduled thread.

Anyone that watches that fight is supporting domestic violence, whether he realizes or not.

No deflecting the issue is ignoring our individual responsibility and moving the target to another issue all together.

It's a common ploy and we all do it at times.

But isn't that what Olberman is doing? He's not encouraging us to take personal action to ensure that domestic violence is ended, he's asking not to tacitly support leagues and sports that have some issues with it.

    HEY YOU TWO:

    1. Mayweather is an abuser who should be in jail for a long, long time.
    2. Watching the fight says you like boxing, not beating up women.
    3. Olbermann is an absolute idiot who only does sports because no one watched his news rants.
    4. Watching his show doesn't mean you're an idiot.
    5. Can I please go back to watching the Warriors pound the Pelicans?

The Cavs are the focus and they play Sunday at 4:00

    1. Agree
    2. Paying to watch Mayweather is making a statement that you support abusers financially as long as it gives you entertainment.
    3. Olberman merely brought up the subject at hand. We support the NFL and Mayweather and numerous others who commit violent behavior by buying tickets and paying for Pay per view.
    4. I've never watched his show but I'm guessing he makes some points occasionally.
    5. Cavs play at 4:00
