I saw KU a month ago and he was using JCM800's with 4x12 cabs.Does anyone know what speakers he's using in the 800's?His tone was great. Here are a few videos I found from the same night. You can see the JCM800's in the background.Maybe someone here knows his amp tech.Click on the high quality tab and the pic and sound quality improve. It's looks like a Mojotone cab.

All I can find is an interview where he says for the live shows he has a '73 Marshall head and matching 4x12, two JCM 800's and matching 4x12's along with a Bogner 2x12, he does not mention specific speakers though.

If you don't snip out the bright cap like most seem to do with their JCM 800s, they are definitely a brite on the high end yet still thick and deep on the bottom. Lots of country players have used JCM 800s. I think Stevie Ray Vaughn also used them for a while.

Dont mean to hijack the thread. Sorry OP.

But anyone have a pic of his Pedal Board?

I have a Tele into a 800 and it is really bright but then with my LP its smooth.

The last time I saw it there was a big switching unit, a boss tu-2 tuner, boss volume pedal and what looked like a crybaby wah. That was from the livin right now tour so judging by how often he switches amps that has likely changed. When i saw that tour he was still playing the mAtchless, badcats, JCM, BF showman and possibly a shiva. Damn guy sounds good through any rig..

    That's interesting.
Look at the tone settings on those Fulldrives. Every Fulldrive I've played, if I ran the tone that far down, would sound terrible.
On a side note, it seems Keith (like any guitar player) sounds the same no matter what he uses. Usually it is Brit-inspired amps and speakers. It is interesting to hear about the V30's, as I figured he was using Blues or Golds and G12H's.

I really liked his older anniversary Tele with the single EMG pickup in the bridge.

Keith sounds freakin' amazing no matter what he plays through. He is a balls out performer who gives 100% every time he hits the stage whether it's 100 or a 100,000 in the audience. I have seen him play solo acoustic to 50 people and it was just as much effort as on a huge stage.

I totally respect his devotion to his craft.

I said EL- EIGHTty Four amps. EL _8_ 4

And my old JCM was 6550's, but I think they also came/come with EL34...?

And also, the JCMs seem to be the only non-EL84 amps KU has been playing... everything else... Matchless, Badcat, 65Amps, etc... all EL84.

The 65 Royal Albert has KT77's

I believe not all of KU's Matchlesses and Bad Cat's had EL84's (if any)...probably a good couple EL34 amps in those days.

I'm definitely not an expert on KU's gear and he could have his sound come through if he plugged into a boom box more than likely...
