    never heard of this event
seems crass to put the ultimate searching improvisers name over a summer jazz/blues-fest event

HOW ABOUT the KENNY G Jazz Blues fest

If it is true, it's offensive.

For Kenny's encore, he comes back out onstage and plays along-side a hologram of Coltrane using the original recording as a backing track!

Eh, if that's what it takes to get people out in numbers to a Jazz/Blues festival, I'm not going to lose any sleep:

"In a recording career that spans almost three decades and 23 albums, Grammy® Award-winning saxophonist Kenny G has grafted elements of R&B, pop, and Latin to a jazz foundation solidifying his reputation as the premiere artist in contemporary jazz. Since the early ‘80s, his combination of unparalleled instrumental chops and indelible melodies has resulted in sales of more than 75 million records worldwide (45 million in the U.S. alone) and more than a dozen climbs to the top of Billboard’s contemporary jazz chart."

Kenny G is to jazz what Britney Spears is to art. Imagine a purulent zit on an otherwise perfect baby butt skin... yup, that's the imagery I was looking for.

Unfortunately, most of the people that show up for these things could care less about the music of John Coltrane.

I was pretty convinced it was a joke, but no....

I checked KG site and the festival's site, apparently he is indeed headlining a festival gig with Trane's name on it.

    Sorry bout that John.

That will be like ABBA or the Carpenters(back in the day) headlining a rock festival. Shameful!
