I don't own any Kiesels and don't plan to, but I agree with Mr. Kiesel. He's right. Gibson appears to be desperate, is probably in dire financial straits, and is working under a decision-making process dictated by people relying on bully tactics rather than reason and research, and who, despite what their
résumé and C.V. may indicate, are not truly guitar industry people.

Really Gibson? Stop making a guitar that looks nothing like their precious V, .......that was produced ..

NINE YEARS prior to their patent! And again, wouldn't apply anyway since they look totally different!

:facepalm

This whole thing is so funny to me. If Gibson took 1/4th of the money they waste on all this frivolous nonsense and sunk that into making quality guitars, they wouldn't be in this position and wouldn't have to pad their pockets by bullying other companies with ridiculous reaching lawsuits and threats. But they're not going to do that, which is why they'll remain a laughing stock among guitar players for years to come.

I mean their excuse with the Firebird X crushing incident was that they didn't live up to their QC. How in the hell are they making that many guitars that don't pass QC?

When JC was at Levi’s they sued anyone with their name/logo on a cloth tab on a denim garment.

These guitar shape lawsuits seem almost reasonable compared to his days at Levi’s.

I can't imagine being at a point in my life where I've resigned myself to corporate BS so much that I look at Gibson and their current state and shrug "well my heroes played them so...".

If you have to ask that question with a hint of surprise, I'm guessing you haven't played any Gibsons made in the last 15 years or so :).

I have. And even with my limited sample set its appalling how many of them have issues. From terrible fretwork to finish issues to an SG with a dead neck pickup that had wire from the coil coming out from underneath the pickguard.

Love this drama, I don't know why but it cracks me up. I also love my Kiesel and Gibson guitar. Its always interesting to me how some people get emotionally offended by what some company does. For me personally I could care less, I will stay play my Gibson and Kiesel regardless of who wins this "battle". I've also defended Jeff Kiesel and I feel like he gets a lot of unfair hate from "fanboys" who don't even own a Kiesel.

I remember the recent Dean drama and an army of YouTube warriors said they were gonna march out and buy a Dean "just cause". You gotta be living a pretty low life to have that mentality/judgement over what someone says, IMO (in this case they were mad at the Play Authentic sham). I mean really.

Anyway, both sides will have arguments and I understand Gibsons point of view. Its definitely an interesting PR strategy for Gibson to take, but I'm not sure if it will help them in the long run. One thing I know for sure though is this crap always gets forgotten pretty soon.

I just bought a PRS McCarty ($$$). During the decision making process, I considered putting up my 335 for trade. I played the 335 for about 30 seconds and realized that I would never let it go. It's a fantastic instrument.
