Not sure if anyone is familiar with these guys, but they've been one of my favorites for awhile now. Sadly, it looks like they're calling it quits after the upcoming album/tour. I snagged some Atlanta tix. Not exactly around the corner, but I've never seen them and this is the last opportunity.

From their webpage:

Happy New Year, everyone !

We hope you all had great holidays despite the ongoing pandemic.

Today, we have important news to share with you.

After much discussion between the five of us at the end of last year, we have decided to go on an indefinite hiatus after 2022. This means 2022 will be our last year as Kikagaku Moyo.

We have come to the conclusion that because we have truly achieved our core mission as a band, we would love to end this project on the highest note possible. Since first starting as a music collective on the streets of Tokyo in 2012, we never, ever imagined being able to play all over the world for our amazing audiences. It is all because of you that this was ever possible…and to this we are eternally grateful.

With this in mind, our very last album will be released by Guruguru Brain on May 2022.

We enjoyed making this album so much and are incredibly excited to finally release it this spring for you.

Following our last album release, we will do our very last tours this spring and fall.

Tickets for the spring tours will go on sale on Jan 21st, and will be available for purchase on our website.

Fall west-coast tour will be announced on Jan 26th.

Please do not miss this chance to get your tickets, because there will be no next time ….

We sincerely thank all of you for your continuous support and cannot wait to see you all at our shows one last time.

That kinda sucks, but on the bright side, without this post I would not have known that they're playing 5 minutes from my house this year. Tickets bought.

Cool band...maybe they will splinter off into more new good music. I'm inclined to believe so.

They are so great. My girl loves them and just got me into them over the past year. We were able to catch them in Nashville last night. The show had sold out early on, and we thought that we wouldn't be able to make it. As luck or fate would have it, a random cool and kind dude sold us the 2 tickets at cost.

Here's the encore I recorded. Excuse my movement, I was vibing too hard.

Looks like they released a new album just a few weeks ago, so I know how I’ll be spending my afternoon today.

I saw them in Atlanta Saturday - it was great! It was nice to see a packed house (I was curious how many people even knew of these guys). Both the band and the audience were super appreciative of one another. A great evening all around. Digging the new album too!

Thanks for the uploads. I was in Nashville last week for my first time, while I got to the Ryman I missed this date by 1 day, I was so bummed.
But I did get to see them a couple years ago at 7th St Entry Mpls@

No problem, I'm just thankful for having had the opportunity. I've got another 2 or 3 to upload this evening.

I unfortunately just discovered them when a friend shared their hiatus announcement on FB. Great stuff.
