What would be the Tonal differences in this design over its counter part?

    For instance 6L6 / KT66 - EL34 / KT77 ....

By trying to illiminate the notch does it make for less distortion and more pwer or just a different response?

I want to try a set of those new JJ KT77's in one of my Marshalls and am curious as to how they might change my tone concidering I have a set of JJ EL34's in both.

    You can't hear the 'kink'.

The 'kink' is a nonlinearity in the lower part of a tetrode's characteristic curve (the curve appears to dip). You can see it in the lower voltage-current region of the 6L6 datasheet. It really has no bearing in Musical Instrument amplifiers as they are not typically operated in these regions.

....Some folks claim to 'hear' it, which really not possible unless you starve the plate and run the tube near saturation.

:Spank Ouch. I had to look that one up. I wasn't trying to sound condescending (if that's what you're telling me). Sometimes I just type out some text without reading it. I meant no disrespect to Red Planet...

No offense taken. LV was making a snide remark towards me concerning previous posts.

I can say out of the 30 plus years I've been playing Tube Amps I just have never had an amp with any of the KT Tubes in it. I had read before how MO had tried to manufacture a Tube that deals with the Kink and having not ever used any I wondered if this had a Tonal difference. Thanx for the info.

    ummmm.....dude:eek:

That box looks kinda ratty, could have mold on it. Better let me come and get it. I'll be there in my HAZMAT suit tomorrow.

"Sorry we could only save half the boxes. the other tubes had to be destroyed. What, oh don't mind that blues breaker combo in the truck, it's just there to make sure the cleaning equipment doesn't roll around."

That's enough of the back & forth on this thread.

Grow up already, both of you.
