Klon prices up!

With Silver reaching Gold prices, that doesn't come to a surprise. I would even expect the "big box" Silver units to even undergo the same misconceptions as the Gold units. Don't be surprised to see/hear people on eBay and forums claiming that there are "differences" between the larger units and the upcoming small enclosures.

That said, I should be getting my "big box" Klon any day now. Wiser to keep the large enclosure units, Bill is one of the few current builders that went through the trouble of creating a custom enclosure.

They'll probably go back down to around $450 or $500, but I doubt they'll ever go lower than that. Unless people don't like the new one, then they'll probably stay around $700. Or maybe if the new one is a lot better, then they could go down. Wow, now I'm confused...

I Lol-ed.

This always happens.

In fact, I saw someone with an ad here on TGP selling a Destination Overdrive for a ridiculous asking price using one ebay auction as reference (an auction which stated the Destination Overdrive was better than the Klon..)

Well, needless to say most of these inflated prices are just people who want to attract interest. As I have most my OD/Dist sounds covered (blasphemous!) I usually search ebay for the highest priced OD/Dist pedals just to see if there's anything better, so I'm guessing that's one way for your ad to be on top ;)

There are many more auctions that are around the same price. Actually there is one that goes off very soon and it's over $700 with time to spare.

I know this has been discussed a million times. And I know I should use the search function. But, personally, I've never paid too much attention to the details of the insane Klon prices.

I have a gold klon I bought back in about 97-98. I paid, I think, about $275 for it new. What are these generally selling for on ebay now?

Wow. I didn't realize last night at a gig when I stepped on the Klon that I was stepping on a thousand bucks.

That's freaking ridiculous! I know it's much loved by it's users, but it's still just an overdrive pedal. For that kind of money, I'd rather buy a good used amp or guitar. I would never pay more than $200 for any dirt pedal, even if it could make dinner. :nono

I don't know If I was a Klon owner I'd be selling right now...as someone said even if it made dinner if you sold it for 1000 I'm sure you could find as good options of overdrive!

I would have never thought the Klons would reach this price point. I have owned a couple over the years and never really got the attraction. However I don't care much for OD pedals in generally. I love my delay, Empress Trem, Teese Wah & my Sweet Sound Ultra Vibe but never cared much for OD's. I do have an early low gain Eternity Burst on my board that I use occasionally but the Klon didn't live up to the hype for me.

I do know though that people that love the Klon nothing else will do. I guess you either get it and love it or you don't. I still think the prices are out of control. Finnegan should just charge $1000 and be done with it.

Using a Klon into a clean amp , as the sole source of gain , is kind of un-inspiring . More so when the gain is past noon . But , I have yet to find a pedal that can kick a cooking amp wide open, like the Klon does. That is where it really shines. Love mine , and cant wait for the pony version .

I never tried it in a clean amp used it just like you stated. Just goes to show what I said is true. Guys that love the Klon really love them and guys that don't just don't. It is great that it works for the people that love it.

Yep, it takes all kinds . I am with you on the used market price. How much I like mine, would not justify that kind of purchase for myself. But, some have no problem spending that kind of money to get what suits them. I say go for i and have a blast !
