    Man, I have been pretty rare around here lately. Really I've just been busy with work and family while digging the heck out of my GV Tele and Gabriel Voxer setup. Not much more I need, but this one I WANT! Saul sent these pics last week apoligetic that he could not send the guitar before he left for the conference. No biggie at all, I'll just gawk at these pics until the real thing arrives.

    Saul outdoes himself with every guitar; raises the bar. I simply cannot wait to play this guitar. Clips and more pics to come.

    I think the pics speak for themselves, but I still cannot wait to see the whole thing, headstock included.

    Little rundown:

    Regular Tele style body,binding, no contour
    light maple body with Eastern flamed maple top (from some place that Matte recommended to me) stained and finished perfectly by Saul (ooo lala!)
    Maple neck with RW fingerboard (Brazilian?, I'll have to ask Saul)
    Bridge=Lollar hot tele
    Middle=Lollar Tweed strat
    Neck=Stephens Design K-Bar (YES!)
    Wired with a 5-way switch and one pull pot for phasing possibilities
    Skyway trem

    Thanks Scrut.

    I like the classic frame with the modern add-ons kind of thing.

    What's the reasoning behind the pickup configuration? (That's a curiosity question, not a critical one.)

    Great looking guitar - great burst! I'm looking forward to a tone/playability report. What made you go with a maple on maple body?

    Thanks guys!!! I am simply beside myself with anticipation. I'll be sure and give a full report when it arrives as well as some much-needed clips.

    Super Locrian, the idea behind the pickup configuration is to get the bridge tone of a Tele, which is my favorite, as well as the sparkle of the middle Strat pickup. This combined with the uuumph of a big neck pickup should give me a wide tonal palette from which to choose. I'm not a huge fan of the tele neck pickups, so I wanted something bigger sounding there. The 5-way switch gives all of the mixes I need and the phasing thing gives some really cool flanger-ish tones and just creates another level of texture where the huge guitar sound may not be the most applicable timbre.

    cubado,

    No, it's no secret. I just cannot remember the name of the wood place!!! Maybe Matte can help us out here. They sell the most beautiful tops I've ever seen.
