I just wanted to tell everyone about the cleans on the Komet 60 I recently bought (from a TGPer).

    The cleans are amazing.

The tone alone makes me smile.

    Thankyou

    Neil

I agree...with a pair of RCA 6L6GC blackplates in the output stage, the K60 is one of the best Strat cleans I've ever experienced :). There's a tonal girth from the amp that not many amps can duplicate.

I'm finally going to try some 6L6's in mine this weekend. For now I have some NOS GE coke bottle's that are currently in my Pure 64. I also have some Ruby's that I think I'll try first.

The original K60 Prototype was set up by Ken Fischer with Tesla E34Ls (not EL34s), Groove Tube grade 3. Ken felt that that tube was right in the middle between a 6L6 and an EL34, tonally. I still have that same set of tubes in it and it does sound most excellent.

Noooo!!! Are you sure you don't want to sell this thing. I love 6V6's. Or perhaps trade? I have a plethora of amps. One I may even be willing to part with.

Nah!! thats hardly a fair trade price wise or tone wise. I was thinking more like a Special Two Rock.

I love the cleans on my Komet 60 and my connie. I must say However, the cleans on my Bruno, Glaswerks, Carol Ann and Dumble are superior IMO.

the one thing that got me by surprise was the cleans that the KF50 has. my understanding is that the cleans from the K60 are even better.

I prefer the K60 to the K50 for cleans, vice versa for overdrive.

    Hmm, maybe I'm due for my 3rd Komet 60 .... :D

Well according to Harri. This may no longer be so. At least an MP with the same specs and cosmetics. In a recent email I received from him he stated that both the cs40 and the new MP will be using a different head and cab. So the original MPs will no longer be made either:D

Well.i finally scored a killer pair of Genalex KT 66 for my K60.I knew they would fall somewhere betwee EL34 and 6l6,but what gave me the smile was that these tubes keep all the great characteristics of the other two and do away with all the drawbacks.I had a killer set of metal base EL34 for my last gig and the amp was cooking.Next week i'll gig it with the kt66 and see which pair i prefer but at the moment it seems that the KT66 are staying.:AOK

OK, U'se guys need to shut up about the K60.
yes, i do have funds allocated to buy a K60 this year (to go along w/ the KF50 and connie)?

what output valves can be used in the K60? i'm thinkin' 6L6, EL34, 6CA7, 6550, 5881, KT66 and derivatives. am i missing any? i have a pair of genelex KT66s, as well. they sound heavenly in greg germino's JTM45 'clone'.
