I had all three, the 8's are a HUGE improvement over the 5's and 6's. I wrote a longer review on my experience a while back. Here is the link.

Had the 5s and changed to Yamaha HS80m, big improvement. The 5s are good value though.

I have the old ones that were more boxy and I think they are 6. I think they sound pretty great and a friend of mine who had some really expensive ones called Avent or something like that thought that the Rockits were more bang for the buck. I think that the yellow cone is dumb looking though, thats just a personal preference.

I'm also receiving my Axe II the next week and I need some monitors. Same as the OP, same price range. I'm considering this ones:
-I know it's BEHRINGER but I'm very interested in this ones: BEHRINGER B3030A TRUTH or B3031A TRUTH
-Yamaha hs80m or hs50m (I read they are very accurate but that they don't sound so good, and my plan is not only use the monitors for mixing.)
-For home playing, do the Adam A5X probide enough bass and power?
-MACKIE MR8 MK2?

If a 5" woofer is enough for high volume home playing I can save some cash...

Thanks, any infor would be apreciated.

My Yamaha HS50M sounds good to me...I feel like it gives a better representation of real, uncolored sounds. But I'm also not using a modeler, rather just a Carl Martin Rock Bug.

Though if I had the cash, I would have sprung for the Adam A7x haha.

I've been using the Rokit 8's with both modelers and keyboards. Very nice, but remember that these (as are the others mentioned) are nearfield monitors (meaning that you really aren't listening to these much beyond 6-8'), that none of these have particularly flat response and that coupling them with their corresponding subwoofers is a good idea. You will *definitely* hear a difference between the 5's and the 8's, and you will definitely hear a difference between either of these with or without the sub.

Last w/e I've just purchased a pair of 6; I was undecided between 6 and 8; comparing them alive 8's sounded better but IMHO the bass frequencies were too much present for an home use with low/nightly volume; as addition my HD500 seems to have a strong and boomy bass presence. Till now I'm pretty satisfied with my KRK 6 GP2 (nonetheless they're 100€ cheaper then 8's).

Don't be fooled by TGP logic.

:mob

Behringer is making top notch products now at great prices, the only questionable aspect is the build quality (which they've pretty much corrected) but if you treat your gear well this will be no problem. I use the B3030A Truth monitors with my Axe and they sound killer. They blew away the KRKs and JBLs I A/Bed them against. Budget price, great features, quality sound.

wow that sounds great!! do you think is worth getting the bigger B3031A Truth?
and between these and yamaha HS50M?

B3031A truth 349€ (pair) http://www.thomann.de/es/behringer_b3031a_truth.htm
B3030A truth 275€ (pair) http://www.thomann.de/es/behringer_b3030a_truth.htm
Yamaha HS50M 145€ (per unit) http://www.thomann.de/es/yamaha_hs50m.htm

If someone have more experience wih the Behringer's is welcome!
I hope my questions are helpful for the OP..

No experience with the Yamahas but they look nice. I only tried the B3030A because the room I use them in is very small but I'd bet the larger monitors are great too.

Might be a dumb question but i'm new to the Ax FX thing

If i'm using self powered monitors, i don't need to route them thru
a mixer..Correct?? just straight AX FX into the monitors
