I want to extend a very deserved public acknowledgement of thanks to Dan Strain for the free upgrade work he did on my recently purchased Dano Tele. This guitar was purchased used from a fellow TGP member.

Dan may want to chime in here to better describe the work he did...

Here is the email he sent describing the work done:

Hey John -

I'm ready to send this one back out into the world :)

I ended up swapping the pickups a few times ( tried a different set of Voodoos - as well as a set of Don Mares ).. I ended up w/ a custom wound set (Alnico 5 Lollar bridge w/ staggered poles and a AL3 neck pickup )... I also swapped the volume pot and changed the finish on the back of the neck to my newer "worn-in" feel

I can restring it tonite and send it out via FedEx tomorrow

He then removed the white pickguard from his own guitar and replaced the black one on mine with this white one.

Truly amazing service.

Thanks again, Dan.

John

That is good :))

The guitar is not for sale. Maybe I put the posting in the wrong category here.

Just trying to give credit where it is due.

Cheers,

John

That is awesome service. On a guitar you didn't even buy from him???

I got dibs after WahmBoomAh sells it to Amplifire.

Makes me wish I didn't sell it now...

I probably wouldn't have knowing I could get those "upgrades" done, especially the "worn-in" wear on the back of the neck.

Dan does make some incredible stuff, I plan to get another one day.

I played Mike Moody's Danocaster over NAMM weekend at a jam. It felt great, sounded great, and looked great.

Somehow, I'm not that surprised to hear your story - Mike's Danocaster just FELT like it was made by a "right guy".

Thanks, Congrats on your Danocaster, and kudos to Dan, Dana O.
