How do the newer Holy Grails compare to the old Gold Sensors, what's the difference in tone and output.

I remember the Gold Sensors as sounding slightly more compressed and dry (not harmonically complex), with slightly less top end compared to true single coils.

Yesterday I just compared a strat with some gold sensors with a relic 69 strat, and your description of them is perfect. I was surprised, the golds sounded good. But just didn't have that chimey top end. have no idea on Holy Grails. Like to try them.

Golds are broader and cleaner with ceramic bite, holy grails are narrower and have alnico response.

Hot Golds have a nice big bottom end & lots of harmonic compexity. (Off topic but I like them a lot better than either of the above).
