Landry?

I'm considering a Landry LS50 (among a few others). Landry only has two dealers listed on their website - one is a hi-fi shop in NYC with almost no info, the other is a shop in NC that sells at retail price. Both are a little further than I'd like to travel to demo an amp, though I suppose not impossible.

Here are my two questions:

  • Should I expect to pay the retail price for a new Landry amp?
  • Is there anywhere closer to MD/VA/DC to demo one?

Thanks, Ryan. I saw that post. The OP traded it away last month. :(

...and hell yes, that would have been a SERIOUSLY nice price!

I saw that after I posted. :( Thanks for posting this question. I had never heard of these amps and I had always wondered if you could build an amp like that to solve the age old Fender Clean/Marshall Crunch dilemma. Turns out you can, in true Tim Taylor fashion. :p

I had never heard of these amps, it seems they're pretty new, and that the builder is pretty small at the moment, so distributors are probably very few and far between. I'd say your best bet is to pal up to someone on here or LPF who owns one.

I bet nobody would turn you down. I mean hey, you'd be welcome to come over my house to try out my amp, if you were just dying to find out what a Marshall Mosfet 100 with bad pots sounds like.:rotflmao

lol. Maybe when I'm having a "bad tone day" and I need to feel better about my 2205's sound.

Thanks for the help though! :beer

Ya, the retail price is a bit high for me, so I still debate. He sold a bunch a couple months ago for about $2100, but he doesn't seem willing to do it again. If you do wind up with a discount somehow please drop me a line! Heh, could we qualify for a group buy with just the two of us?

Are these PTP or PCB? Not that I'm judging it on that, just curious.

I can't find any gut shots and I like to see the insides of things. It says something about the builder when an amp looks nice inside too.

The Landry is PTP. I've been to his place several times while he's building them and they are nice and clean! I do believe they sell for retail. A lot of work goes into each amp. Killer amps!
