I just love my little Laney LC15R 1x10 (see avatar) but lately after it gets warmed up it will suddenly lose most of it's volume and get real bassy. It did this before and I cleaned the tube sockets and put in new tubes and set the bias a little cold like it came from the factory. It was ok for a short while but now it's doing it again. Seems like I should have gotten 10x more time than that out of the new tubes. do you think it needs a cap job, what could it be?

    Thanks,
    RRC

There are at least a dozen things that could cause what you describe. You'd need to take some voltage readings and know how to interpret them and/or go through the circuit with a signal generator & oscilloscope to find where the fault is occurring. If you don't know how to do this it would be best to take the amp to a good tech.

Want to hazard a guess as to what it usually is?

Electronics isn't guess work. You conduct tests to find the problems source. Otherwise, you might as well start replacing parts one at a time until the problem goes away.

That might be cheaper than a tech. If there was a tech around here.

How far south in to Jersey are you? There's plenty of techs not far from pretty much anywhere in Jersey. You just have to look.

Also, you spelled Joisey wrong. Also, we don't actually say it that way up here. That's how Lawn Guy Landers say it.

Way south west, cows and swamp land. We don't even have an exit.

Where the road (rt77) ends and the swamp begins. There's one guy down here that I know of but I don't trust him.

Looks like you're about an hour from anything I would consider reliable. An hour drive isn't really much for me, but that's just cuz I like driving.

@mystixboi, would you be of any help?

I love in Cherry hill. I spent years looking for a good guitar tech in south jersey. The best one I found is in philly. I got his name from Howard Kaplan at evh/fender

    I’ll message you their info

Billy Penn is a great Tech in Tom's River NJ. He also builds his own line of amps and has a great website 300guitars.
Look him up. He can probably help you out

Well, after all this time I found what was wrong with it. I put in new tubes and set the bias then started tapping on stuff with a wooden stick and the amp started squealing so I shut it off. I took out the PCB and looked it over with 5x loupe and found a resister coming off of V1 was never soldered from the factory. It must have made connection until it got corroded then worked intermittently depending on the temp. I cleaned it up and soldered it now it work like new.
