But what may be a killer "old school" amp appeared on consignment at a local shop and I couldn't resist. And after a very little time with the 1999 Victoria Double Deluxe I am a little floored by how great it sounds. It showed some potential at very low volume in the shop but seemed a little rough at slightly higher volumes. I noticed the first pre-amp tube was 7025 although the tube chart calls for a 5751 (a lower gain tube). As luck would have it I actually had a 5751 stuck in another (vintage) amp (in a socket that called for a 12AX7), so I simply swapped them around and the DD came to life offering up some of the sweetest tones I ever heard. I'm just a bit worried that it may have too much headroom, but I'm putting that concern to bed until after the honeymoon :)
