I have decided to take a break from neoclassical/metal/hardrock music and focus on something that is more relaxed and you can pick up a lot of cool licks from. Tell me what you all think is it worth learning something like this?

Learn from what you like. That is how guys get unique styles rather than just doing all the licks everyone else does.
Learn anything that entertains you to learn.

There is so much awesome stuff you can learn from Eric Johnson that will transfer to completely different styles.

Yeh, really. He doesn't get enough credit I don't think he is a self-described perfectionist at his art. I wish more people enjoyed his playing.

Get out of the box man! It may change your life.

When I started listening to more pop, it opened me up to SO MANY new ways of playing and styles. I moved out of hard rock, and discovered Jazz, Hip hop, Funk and a whole bunch of other things.
