I had a very nice 97 Cherry LP Special-DC that I wished I still owned! It had white binding on the neck.... something that I am not seeing on the newer Specials. What years (not vintage) did the Gibson LP Special-DC's have neck binding?

I believe 1997 to 2004 had neck binding.

I think the last DC LPs I saw had binding on the body but not on the neck.

There was also a DC LP Pro model, with the contoured headstock. It was a custom shop model that went for twice the price.

I have a '98 amber flametop, with one of the best tops you'll ever see on a Gibson. It sings like a bird with the Manlius HR59s I put in it.

By the way, and I've never seen this mentioned on the Les Paul Forum, but DC Les Pauls have LONG NECK TENONS!!!!! That's right, it extends almost completely under the neck pickup.

I was delighted to see this when I replaced my pickups. I should have taken a picture, for all the long tenon doubters out there.
