For goofs on ebay was looking at the completed items of Les Pauls in general and found a boat load of Les Paul traditionals that were sold "AS NEW" anywhere from $1300 to $1500. Isn't this basically the same guitar as the standard but with different pickups and a slimmer neck? Most of the online retailers are selling them for nearly $2200. How is someone selling them new as low as $1300?
The best price I know of for a new Trad from a reputable, authorized Gibson dealer is $1,795. So to answer your question, I don't know how someone is selling them for 1300.
I just bought one (Heritage Cherry Sun Burst) The best prices were: Black and GoldTop about $1700 including shipping Burst colors about $110.00 more. I am very happy with mine. Its killer!!!!!! Prices were from two very reputable companies I found on this site.
I also noticed a seller on Ebay that is blowing out dozens of new Gibson guitars for extremely low prices. Seems suspicious to me. Maybe they are factory seconds or maybe it's just another Ebay scam.
I bought a Iced Tea Traditional plek'd from GC at $1,900. Plays great. Heavy 50's neck. Just the way I like it.
Hmm, any chance someone can PM me with one of the better dealers that sells Traditionals? For one of these better prices, of course?
A few examples..... but just noticed the seller is based in India. Either way he has solid feedback and been selling quite a few of them. http://cgi.ebay.com/BRAND-NEW-Gibson-Les-Paul-Traditional-Electric-Guitar_W0QQitemZ120379133362QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar?hash=item120379133362&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A13%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 http://cgi.ebay.com/BRAND-NEW-Gibson-Les-Paul-Traditional-Plus-Electric_W0QQitemZ120378100318QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar?hash=item120378100318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A13%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
I just rented a Traditional Gold Top a couple of hours ago to try before I buy one. First impression is wow! This Les Paul has great sustain and definately sounds good acoustically unplugged. The neck is another feature that attracted me.........nice 50's. The real test will be tomorrow night at band practice to see how it sounds in the mix. But so far I see this Traditional coming home with me permanently!
Solid feedback for what? None of the Feedback is for the higher priced guitars that are currently being sold. I'd like to see that feedback in a few weeks after some of these guitars get delivered.
I recently acquired a Traditional Plus, ice-tea burst. One of the best guitars I've ever owned. Great sustain, comfortable neck, creamy neck pickup, and Jimmy Page-like bridge sounds. I love it!! It's very versatile as well. You can even get some country tones out of this guitar. If I had to let go of all my guitars and keep only one, it would be the Traditional. (I own an SG Standard, Classic '60s Tele, '79 Strat and the Trad.)
Just got a Desert burst with the dark back. Not loving dark back but man these guitars are great. They do not have massive weight relief the way standards do. The tops are awesome. The classic 57+/57 combo kills in LP guitars. The neck is 50s rounded but very playable. I prefer them to anything other than pre 2002 standards. Back in 01 and before standards were great. Not too crazy about newer standards. I'd doubt that someone can sell them for 1300. Something is fishy about that. The go for about 1780 or so.
Commack GC - They must have just lowered the price. 3 weeks ago they were $2189.00. Thats why I bought from someone else, they would not budge on the price. Only draw back at GC is on a Saturdays they have 1000 kids running around banging up all the guitars.
open air market for banged up used gear. Sometimes you can find a steel there though. I just got a vintage modern 425 4x12 cabinet for $497. The 100 watt head was $900. The guitars are never set up hardly.
I just got a Traditional Plus in Heritage Cherry Burst for my birthday a week ago. The were no discounts for mine. This guitar is incredible. I am usually into the 60's style necks but this one just feels perfect. I don't consider it to be that big though.
