She just held a pillow over the poor woman's head while PK stabbed her to death.
So much to catch up on now. Starbucks, here I come!

Manson did brainwash the living hell out of all those kids. She's no harm to society now. Whether she's paid her debt for her part is subjective, and I'm sure she doesn't have a clear conscious.

I'm not downplaying it, I'm just saying. She'll die with a heart full of guilt and regret after living a life confined. Whether she dies locked up or "home".....she's still stuck in that prison.

The guy next door decapitated a guy 30 years ago during a robbery and they just let him out . California cant afford keeping people in prison .

    Her specific role? Here:
It's 40 years too early, IMO.

They're not going to let her out. The boards decision has 120 days to be approved and even then Jerry Brown can veto it just like he did for Bruce Davis who killed Shorty Shea and Gary Hinman... Trust me. None of them will ever get out of prison...

Wow...she should never get out, IMHO. I agree that it probably won't happen.

OP, what is it about the case that makes you sympathetic to Van Houten?

You mess with the bull...you get the horns.

My only brother was senselessly murdered...for $23.00 he had in his pocket.....so no sympathy from me.

You take a life...you forfeit yours...one way or another.

from what I recall from what I read, she held her down and stabbed as well but only after she was dead, it doesn't matter, they all went there with the intention to murder the couple

if i recall correctly, she was initially sentenced to death, her death sentence was overturned and changed to lipwop, then lip,
    i could be wrong

we might agree that maybe she was not as f'd up as Charles manson, but hey,

She was pretty cute and a homecoming queen back in the day...too bad she made a very bad decision and not only ruined her life, but a lot of other people's lives too.

No, you're correct. They were all sentenced to death, the death penalty was abolished in 1972, so they got commuted to life and then the death penalty was reinstated again in 1978, but they couldn't sentence them to death again on some sort of technicality.
