    Hey gag -

Can anybody provide me some input about these types of cabs? I have recto 2X12 vertivle cab (closed back vintage 30's) and I am looking for another 20 offset it.

I have heard things about the BOgNER, SPLAWN, Avatar 2X12 etc and to be honest other than the labels, can't see a physical difference between these cabs.

Can anyone who owns these comment on them, in comparison to what they ahd tried to get there?

I am not in the market at the moment, but perhaps next year, I may think of getting a second cab, and will be focused on the Splawn, Bogner, Avatar, or heck even another mesa.

    Thanks for your help.

I haven't played the other cabs, but I really like my Avatar 2X12 (V30, G12H30) it was way better sounding than the 4X12 1960A (GT75s) I used to have. Way better, but it might have been the speakers.

Mesa Recto 2-12 Cabs, and the Bogner is a much fuller sounding cab. I can't comment on the other cabs as I haven't tried them.

Mojotone provides the cabs for the majority of amp makers out there...Avatar included. Avatar in turn builds them for folks like Bogner, Guytron, etc. My understanding is that if it has a Celestion, then Avatar pretty much builds/supplies it, BUT "special" voiced speakers for say THD or others comes from somewhere else however I'm fairly certain they're still Mojotone cabs.

+1 for the Recto 2x12. It out-performs 4x12's and it growls for any style of guitar. I've used my classic 30, rectoverb, and classic 50 through it for fun, and it adds a lot of lower mids w/ minimal speaker distortion. V30's sound incredible if your ears aren't on-axis w/ the speaker cone, but then again, I love heavy mids. jmo

I really like my Avatar 2x12 open with V30's. I have owned a bunch of different cabs and it's up there in the top 3.

I had 2 CB cabinets at one time, they measured roughly w28xh20xd12 while the other was w28xh14xd18. The one that was 18 deep put out a lot more low end. Rather then brand I would focus on dimensions, this will probably make more of an impact then anything.

Yes, Dave the owner of Avatar explained it as such in a phone conversation that I recently had with him.

I love my Silver Jubilee 2x12 cab with Webers wired to 4ohms in it. My Bassman heads fit nicely width wise.

Hello. I thought I would chime in on this thread. Yes, the THD and Mesa 2x12 cabs sound great. However I would like to add another possibility. (Brace yourself for a shameless plug :)) I work with Port City Music and we have designed a new 2x12 cabinet called the Wave. It has a completly new design that yeilds more volume and really captures a players touch. Dave Weiner from the Steve Vai band has retired his Mesa 2x12's for the Wave. If you are interesed in finding out more please check out www.portcitymusicsupply.com. If you have any questions feel free to PM me. Take care.
