Great thread! Yay!
Very cool sounding stuff! I just ordered my first Lexicon PCM waiting for it to come in. cant wait!!
Which one did you order?
I wasn't sure which one to get threw a bunch of offers out and ended up getting a good deal (i hope) on a PCM-70. should arrive in a couple days. I'm mostly looking for reverbs to sweeten up guitar.
The Lexicon was waiting for me when I got home last night. I installed a new battery straight away, did a full reset because the display characters were messed up. Its showing version 3.01 when it boots. I installed v2 presets into the registers. In the few minutes I had with it so far my first reaction is This thing sounds absolutely amazing!! I'm working all weekend but hopefully ill get a little more time with it tonight. I'm stoked!
What was the last firmware for the PCM81? i can only seem to find reference to 1.0.
That's first and last. No need to update.
Cool thanks for the quick reply. I am having so much fun with the pcm70 I decided to retire my Roland sde1000 & Tc M-one which freed rack space so I pulled the trigger on a pcm81.
Not to push the blade too deep... but you could replace SDE1000/M-1 and PCM70 with a single 81.... especially live!
I just mess around at home i don't play out or anything. If having both in my guitar rack proves to be redundant i'll move one of them over to my synth rack.
It won't be redundant as a dedicated reverb is something you can use while the 81 runs effects only... with a better signal output and balance.
Hoo-Rah! Just scored a scratch-free/mint PCM 91 for $450. It will be the king of the very modest "Lexicon corner" of my studio FX rack, joining a LXP-15II, LXP-1 (using an MRC for both) and MPX 500 (headphone verb). @italo de angelis I see that you have a few patches for the LXP-1 Its not total junk, nor is the LXP-15II
Im assuming that my MRC will not talk to the PCM 91?
That's an incredible price for a 91! Great score, man. You now possess Random Hall...awesome.
Now... those LXP1 patches I have are made on the PCM80/81/90/91.... a different sound.
The LXP is darker and not as lush (no modulation or randomization the user can set). It was a good reverb back in the day... but also the beginning of the "cheap products" marketing that eventually killed Lexicon.
The MRC will talk to ANY MIDI machine, provided you program MIDI CCs to address its parameters for realtime control or enter MIDI SysEx strings.
AND Rich Plate!!!
Is the Tiled Room any good on the 91? And Vocal Magic?
Ah the sweeeeeeeet Lexicon sound
Sometimes at work, I just put recordings like these or shnobel's MPX-1 PCM80 LXP-15 II shout-out video to listen to, through a pair of K-240's (yes in the office people do sometimes look at me with their face saying: what the he$? are those big weird earphones ).
Lexicon's verb trails actually help concentration. I'm living proof.
I feel VERY sorry for you and I'm sure your colleagues are in pain for that.
That shnobel video is possibly THE worst clip EVER about Lexicon sound. He runs the things in series, in MONO. So wrongly connected and managed.
The LEXICON SOUND is stereo, my man.
Do you need some inspirational Lexicon sounds for your office time?
And want to make your colleagues happy?
And maybe these too:
