Seems like Line6's response to the Boss Katana. They will sell a boatload of these for folks looking for a reasonably priced combo amp for home or small gigs.

Sounds pretty decent to my ears with a reasonably easy to use UI. It's not going to blow the socks off people using a Helix or Axe-Fx etc but they are not the intended market anyway. Glad they decided to bury the Spider brand too, Catalyst is a nice name.

I wonder if the amp models are based on custom models of Helix firmware 3.15 and the upcoming 3.2?

PS. EytchPi42 should use a tuner more often.

I was unclear on if the amp was mic'd or recorded direct. Either way I don't think it sounded all that great. Later in the video, however, he set up a room mic and the amp sounded pretty good IMO.

L6 recently put out a promo video for a bunch of new L6 original amps that are now in helix yet. Clean, AC30ish, Dumble fish and High gain. So im wondering if instead of modelling other peoples amps they've finally put out a unit that is just all original models.

looks like Katana killer indeed: Helix amps and effects, midi, XLR, fx loop, power amp input, audio interface - all of that even on the cheapest of the bunch (60). and that logo seems to be easily removable

Sounds cool. As I said, just didn't love what I managed to hear in the video, but that wasn't a lot.

Helix amps and simple interface makes much more sense than ancient POD amps and a computer like interface like the Spider V.

Wonder if they'll put that experience to use to bring HX Edit to mobile. I would really like to be able to edit from my iPad — especially when I have it connected for playing synths through MIDI Guitar.
