What's the difference between the x and the regular pro? Is it just the updated version kind of like the 500x? I'm thinking about buying one so I was just curious.

That's what it is. Same exact sounds and features. It might have a different display, it has the new CPU, so you'll be able to stack more complex effects.

I think he was talking about the POD HD Pro vs. the POD HD Pro X...

If, however, the OP is talking about the newer HD vs. the older Pro X3, XT and original POD Pro... I say skip those ones.

No I mean the Pod HD Pro. They are going or 350 used. New Pro X is 700.

At that price difference, I'd get the used Pro. I have an original 500 and never find myself in a place where I can't make the sound I want.

If you're going to do two chains, then you might hit the wall easily if you use FX... but then... just buy two used POD HD Pros... right?

I agree, if you're using this in the studio and plan on using dual paths with multiple amps, then the Pro X is the way to go.
